A series of extensive and necessary restorations to the structure of Zion Church is underway.
A complete analysis of the exterior and interior of the church was conducted, and the vestry began prioritizing restoration projects. The first project was to have a drainage system installed around the exterior of the church, connecting to the town’s storm sewer system. Next, masonry issues were addressed on the exterior of the church, followed by the installment of a new roof. On the interior, the marble Baptismal Font was restored to its original state, and minor improvements to the parish hall in the basement were made (newly painted floor and new lighting).
Currently, the parish is waiting for the re-installment of select windows that were removed in the fall of 2013 for major repairs. The windows, including the rose window in the nave and five gospel-side windows, were sent to Willet Hauser in Winona, Minnesota for cleaning and restoration.
Update!…The Rose Window and windows along the west wall were beautifully restored by Willet Hauser and have been returned to Zion! They were re-installed during spring 2015. The light has never been lovelier and more brilliant!
